I may have to go back to the drawing board
on these first few shots.
I learn something everyday. The second
image is quite a bit better. This was all software related.
It is always nice to figure out you have
been doing something wrong for years.
The above image was taken with a shutter speed of 1/1000 and ASA of 4000. In many, if not most, instances 4000 is just unacceptable for real photographers. (the available light is just too low.) In addition, the original shot is highly cropped. So, for years and years I have been using a Photoshop plugin known as NeatImage for noise reduction. I just figured out that I should be running the noise reduction software through the photograph BEFORE I crop it. This way the software can grab a better sample on the outskirts of the photo to use as a sample before it pulls noise out of the image. DAH!!!!!!. No, I will not go back and redo all my nighttime images.
Oh well. Live and learn. I also should have known
better than to respond to my wife when she asked me what I was doing. She got
the pleasure of saying to me "well, isn't that pretty logical?" Yes, it is.
Thank you, dear.
